About Us

Kinya is a Japanese restaurant located at 1999 NW 43rd St Unit 1, Gainesville, FL 32605, proudly serving ramen, sushi, and yakitori. Kinya is the home of the Golden Ramen, and we pride ourselves on the meaning of our name — GOLD. Gold is fine, pure, and unmatched by any other metal, and that is the experience you get every time you eat at Kinya. We love authentic Japanese foods and flavors, but we are not afraid to add fun twists that make every dish memorable.

From the moment you walk into Kinya, you will see our Daruma character everywhere. It is a recognizable symbol of perseverance and good luck in Japanese culture. The one-eyed Kinya Daruma mascot is a visual representation of our continuing quest to provide high-quality food and service for our guests. His determined expression and bold look make the Kinya Daruma recognizable and memorable. The design of the Daruma combines elements of the Kinya logo and our brand icons to create a cohesive look between our marks. Wavy lines on his body reference our signature ramen noodles — the golden noodles — and his base matches the bottom of a ramen bowl. From our design to our food, we have infused Kinya with love and appreciation that is evident in every visit.

The Daruma doll is a popular symbol of good luck and future fortune, often tied to the Japanese saying nanakorobi yaoki — "fall down seven times, stand up eight." Daruma represents perseverance and staying the path. When you have a goal and feel tempted to waver or quit, having that Daruma on your shelf serves as a constant reminder of what you originally wanted and why you made that promise to yourself. Before putting a Daruma on display, the owner must make a wish or set a goal, then color in one eye. Once the wish comes true, the other eye is colored in, and the Daruma becomes complete.

At Kinya, that same spirit drives us every day. We never stop striving to be better for our guests, and we invite you to experience that dedication in every bowl of ramen, every piece of sushi, and every grilled yakitori skewer. Come visit us in Gainesville and discover authentic Japanese flavors with a golden touch — served with perseverance, good luck, and a little bit of fun.
